Florida police are investigating an alleged physical run-in between Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields and Donald Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski early this week.

In a statement to BuzzFeed News, the Jupiter Police Department confirmed a police report was filed Friday at about 10 a.m. and said the misdemeanor battery investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after the police confirmed the complaint, the Trump campaign sent out its second statement of the week denying the incident, which linked to a story on Breitbart laying out the case for Lewandowski not being the one who grabbed Fields.

The Independent Journal review first published a report that Fields had filed assault charges after Lewandowski allegedly roughed her up after a Trump press conference there.

Fields alleges Lewandowski grabbed her arm and nearly knocked her to the ground after she tried to ask Trump a question after presser had ended, an account which audio of the run-in published Thursday by Politico seems to support.

The Trump campaign has strenuously denied that the incident occurred, with the candidate telling reporters after Thursday night’s debate that Fields “made the story up.” Lewandowski responded online with a string of smears and called Fields “delusional.”

The Jupiter Police Department did not immediately respond to a TPM request for comment Friday morning.
