Before emailing us with your problem, please look through the following FAQs to understand the switch to Facebook commenting and other questions, or refer to our Status blog, which will keep you up to date on what we’re working on and any problems we’re experiencing on the tech side of TPM. A page on TPM won’t load, or is hanging on a file.
We’re doing our best to use only fast and responsive ad networks, though sometimes their servers hiccup on an ad. If you can see what file the browser is hanging on, let us know and we’ll pull that ad network out of rotation. It could also be that we have a bug in our page implementation -- if you let us know what page isn’t loading for you by emailing, we’ll look into it as soon as possible.
TPM won’t load for me, is it down?
In general, if it ever looks like TPM might be down, check out our Status blog, which we update if we experience any technical issues.
I get a runtime or javascript error on a TPM page.

The browser is probably not loading a stylesheet. Hold down shift and reload the page.
How do I subscribe to TPM by RSS?

Try shutting down and restarting your phone -- if this does not work, please email with the device, browser and network you are using and a detailed description of the problem.

Account Issues

If you are experiencing any problems with your account -- if you are unable to log in, access The Hive, post comments, see icons, etc. -- we recommend you:
  • Sign out of your Prime account
  • Delete cookies from your computer
  • Clear your browser cache
  • Close and re-open the browser (make sure you are not using a private browser)
  • Try again
If this does not work, please contact with an explanation of the problem and the name of the browser and operating system you are using. We will look into the problem and get back to you as soon as possible.
How do I cancel my Prime membership?
Go to “Account Settings” (found within your user profile) and disable auto-renew status. Alternatively, you can email and request a refund.
What is your policy on auto play sound ads?
Auto play sound ads are a violation of our ad policy. If you see one, please take a screenshot or write down as much information as you can about it and send an email to siteissues [at] talkingpointsmemo dot com.
Do you allow interstitial ads?
No, we believe these ads impede user experience and we will not use them.
How do you post a comment?
To comment on a story you can either click on the “Comments” button above the cover photo, click on the commenting icon to the left of the story, clicking the “Comments” button below the author bio or clicking “Click here to comment” above the “More from TPM” section. These links will take you to The Hive, where you can click “Reply” to comment on a story or respond to other reader comments.
Does TPM have a comment policy?

Yes! TPM Media follows a simple set of rules for acceptable commenting:

All political viewpoints are welcome. However, hate speech of any kind, libelous statements or threats to fellow users or others will be deleted and may be grounds for suspending or terminating a user’s account.

Four letter words are not banned, but we ask that they be used sparingly as overuse coarsens and undermines the debate.

TPM is a venue for lively and passionate debate. But insults, personal attacks and the like make that sort of enlivening exchange impossible. If you just want to scream and taunt, please go somewhere else. If you have any question about what is and what’s not acceptable, follow this rule: If you wouldn’t use a certain word or talk to someone a certain way in a real-life political discussion at a coffee house, don’t do it here either.

What commenting system do you work with?

We use Discourse, an open-source discussion platform that requires users have: Internet Explorer 10+, Google Chrome 24+, Firefox 14+ or Safari 5.1+.

Why are there no comments on mobile?
There will be! We plan on adding a commenting section to our mobile site in early 2015.
