The Republican challenger to Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) is airing a new attack ad linking the Democratic congressman to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

Early on in the ad, by Republican congressional candidate George Demos, there’s a frame with Bishop, President Barack Obama, and Ford with text reading “TIRED OF POLITICIANS?”

Bishop, unlike Ford, didn’t recently admit to having smoked crack “probably in one of my drunken stupors.”

The ad also doesn’t focus on Ford for long. After the image of Obama and Ford a voiceover says Demos is “not a politician. George Demos knows the good guys from the bad.”

Demos ran in the Republican primary for Bishop’s seat back in 2010. This time he’s running against Republican state Sen. Lee Zeldin (NY) for the nomination. Bishop’s seat, New York’s first congressional district, is a top pickup for Republicans in the 2014 election cycle.
