It took several months, but embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford finally admitted Tuesday that he has smoked crack cocaine.
During a media scrum that bordered on surreal, Ford alluded to the allegations that surfaced several months ago.
“You asked me a question back in May,” he said to a reporter. “You can repeat that question.”
Initially confused, the reporter eventually put the mayor on the spot: “Do you smoke crack cocaine?”
“Exactly,” Ford said. “Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine. But…am I an addict? No! Have I tried it? Um, probably in one of my drunken stupors, probably approximately about a year ago. I answered your question. You ask the question properly, I’ll answer it.”
Toronto police said last week that they have video of Ford smoking crack cocaine, months after reports of the footage first emerged. Ford previously denied that he smoked crack.
