In his second inaugural address on Monday, January 21, 2013, President Obama invoked the Declaration of Independence and America’s founding fathers as a symbol of our democracy meant to live on forever.

“Today, we continue a never-ending journey to bring the meaning of those words with the reality of our time,” said Obama before hundreds of thousands of people at the U.S. Capitol. “For history tells us that while these truths may be self evident, they have never been self executing.”
