Sen. Dick Lugar (R-IN) sat down for an interview with the Indianapolis Star editorial board on Monday, as he heads into a hotly contested Republican primary challenge on May 8.
Lugar discussed a wide range of issues, including foreign policy, energy and the state’s job market. He also answered questions about the recent controversy involving his voting residency in the state, saying that all junctures over the past 35 years he has followed legal advice that was given to him.
Lugar’s challenger, state Treasurer Richard Mourdock, will hold a separate interview with the paper this coming Friday.
