When Bruce Springsteen super fan New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) got a hug from his idol, he told reporters he cried.
Now Christie may be weeping for an entirely different reason: his hero teamed up with comedian Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night to parody the scandal surrounding lane closures on the George Washington Bridge with a tune set to Springsteen’s “Born To Run” called “Gov. Christie Traffic Jam.”
“They shut down the toll booths of glory ’cause we didn’t endorse Christie,” Fallon sang before Springsteen jumped in.
“Man, I’ve really gotta take a leak, but I can’t,” Springsteen sang. “I’m stuck in Governor Chris Christie’s Fort Lee, New Jersey traffic jam.”
The musical duo also mocked Christie’s nearly two-hour press conference apologizing for his administration’s involvement in the bridge scandal.
“The press conference went on and on,” Fallon sang.
“It was longer than one of my own damn shows,” Springsteen quipped.
Christie has been known to swing by the set of “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” to slow-jam the news, but his relationship with the Boss has been decidedly less chummy.
