WASHINGTON (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he’s cutting short his visit to Washington after a Gaza rocket attack on Israel.
Netanyahu described Monday morning’s rocket launch that struck a home in central Israel as a “criminal attack” and vowed to strike back hard. He says he will return to Israel to handle the crisis shortly after meeting with President Donald Trump on Monday.
An Israeli rescue service says the rocket from the Gaza Strip wounded seven people.
Netanyahu arrived in Washington on Sunday for what was to have been a three-day visit. He was going to speak at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and was to be hosted at a White House dinner.
Criminals having a get together at the WH?
Lawn mowing time.
OT:
Guess we’re not going to invade Venezuela after all. But it will be good for oil prices at the end of the day:
If I were him, I’d avoid the word “criminal.”
This attack is a real stroke of luck for Netanyahu, faced with more indictments and an election a few weeks away, WHILE being in DC, scheduled to speak at the big rightwing Israelathon AND meet with POTUS. He can really look “strong” and “conscientious” by immediately heading back, foregoing the speech! And isn’t it amazing that a Hamas rocket actually HIT something for a change? A home, with old people and babies in it, yet! Seems tailor made for propaganda purposes.
I agree: it’s a despicable act, whoever is responsible for it.
