Americans’ confidence in the economy crossed into positive territory in January, its highest point since the Great Recession, according to Gallup.

More Americans said the economy is excellent or good versus bad, and more said it was getting better instead of worse. Confidence grew by eight points from December to January, the biggest monthly increase in more than a year.

The public’s confidence in the economy had sunk as low as negative-58 at the low point of the recession.
