NEW YORK (AP) — Former 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney was treated for prostate cancer last year.

That’s according to a Romney aide who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the aide was not authorized to discuss a sensitive health issue publicly. The aide said Monday that Romney was diagnosed with “slow-growing prostate cancer” last year. The cancer was removed surgically and found not to have spread beyond the prostate, the aide said.

The news comes as Romney, 70, weighs whether to run for a Utah Senate seat currently occupied by Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch. Hatch announced last week that he would not seek another term this fall.

  1. Mittens can use this one on the campaign trail.

I went to get my rectal exam yesterday and as it was finishing and the doctor walked out, the nurse walks in and says those 5 words you never want to hear….

    Who the fuck was that?

  2. Not quite sure about his mental agility yet but fairly positive that he is at least as on the ball as Preznident early to mid onset Orangehue.

  3. Took me a minute…

It will be important to ask if he’s been administered a drug called Lupron. This drug is supposed to suppress testosterone. It worked on that score for my husband. But it basically fucks with the brain. After a few months, he thought he was losing his mind. I did some research then and whoa, lotsa problems, especially a thing called “Lupron brain.” Yes, they tell you about side-effects, but are you really listening when you’re weighing that against cancer? My husband is finally coming out of it, but he had to take anti-anxiety and depression drugs. Not sure he’ll ever be the same, high-powered guy.

So, it is important and relevant to know the full story of a candidate’s or appointee’s health.

  5. We now know more about a past US presidential nominee’s health than we do the current US President’s health.
