Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) suggested on Sunday that President Barack Obama is “mocking Americans” by challenging Republicans to run on repealing health care reform, and criticized the president’s weekend recess appointments.
DeMint said although “hundreds of his nominations have been confirmed unanimously,” Obama has “mixed in with these batch of nominations some pretty radical folks.”
He specifically cited Craig Becker, Obama’s nomination to the National Labor Relations Board, who has been a special target for Republicans due to his union ties.
“And all we had asked for is some debate and a vote on this nominee,” DeMint continued. “He decided to circumvent Congress again, which has become his style on so many issues, and just appoint him while we were out of town.”
