A woman was accidentally shot in the chest while she and a coworker were sorting through clothes at a thrift store, according to Chicago Police.

Initially, police said Maria Carmen Dominguez was shot Friday morning when her coworker shook a sock in the sorting pile and a .22 caliber handgun fell out of it, discharging onto the floor, according to NBC Chicago. Dominguez was fatally shot in the chest as a result.

But now police say the gun fell into the man’s hand and then went off. The shooting is still being ruled an accident.

The Department of Labor also said they are investigating the shooting as an accident.
