Transocean Deepwater Fined $400M For Violating Clean Water Act

Transocean Deepwater Inc., owner of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, was fined $400 million on Thursday for violating the federal Clean Water Act in the April 2010 explosion that released 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, the Times-Picayune reports. The company also will serve a five-year term of probation.
