A 3-year-old Colorado boy died Monday from a gunshot wound to the head and authorities said they found a “recently fired semiautomatic handgun near the toddler,” the Denver Post reported.

Police in Weld County, Colo. said it’s unclear if the boy shot himself. Authorities responded to a morning 911 call from a woman who said her son had fallen and was bleeding from his head.
