Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) joked at a campaign rally Tuesday that he thought Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump would blame global warming on Mexicans or Muslims.
Sanders said he was looking forward to addressing climate change while on the campaign trail, but questioned how Trump would make “rational public policy” on the issue.
“I would’ve thought Trump would say it was a hoax pushed by the Mexicans or Muslims,” Sanders quipped.
Sanders called Trump a “brilliant scientist” for believing that climate change was a “hoax by the Chinese,” as the real estate mogul tweeted in 2012:
The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.
