A remarkable 23.9 percent of Americans want their state to secede from the United States, according to a Reuters poll published Friday.
The geographic disparity was charted by Reuters:
Support was somewhat higher among men than women, and higher among low-income groups. Read more details on the data here.
The online poll asked 9,000 people, “Do you support or oppose the idea of your state peacefully withdrawing from the United States of America and the federal government?” It has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.2 percentage points.

PT Barnum is right. Folks sure can be stupid and unable to think through an idea. And this quarter would be the first to yell when the parts of government they liked were unavailable or cost way too much under the new regime, and likely delayed for years until systems could be created and funded, etc… And when they need a passport to visit Grandma in the next state they’d be apoplectic.
Umm, I’m thinking that New Mexicans would not want to secede from the US if it meant joining Texas in a new country…
You guys didn’t expect it to be basically even all over the country did you???
I didn’t either.
It is unconstitutional for states to secede as demonstrated by the SCOTUS ruling in Texas v. White, 74 U.S. 700 (1869).
These are just teabaggers, realizing that they can’t get their fantasyland, made-up country back.
