CHARLOTTE — Obama’s deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said the president will discuss the state of the Afghanistan war and veterans issues in his convention speech. Mitt Romney did not mention the Afghanistan in his war, a departure from past Republican convention speeches that have traditionally mentioned ongoing military conflicts.

“I thnk it was a major blunder on Mitt Romneys part not to acknowledge that we have men and women fighting on behalf of this country over in Afghanistan,” she said at a forum hosted by ABC News/Yahoo. “The president will mention Afghanistan, will talk about our troops, will talk about our veterans and what we’re doing to draw down the war in Afghanistan, ensure that our veterans are protected when they come home, and our committment to providing for those who have put their lives on the line for us.”
