Man Who Killed Friend In Bulletproof Vest Stunt Gets 4 Years In Prison

A man who shot and killed his friend in 2014 after aiming too high above the bulletproof vest his friend was testing out was sentenced Monday to four years in prison, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Darnell Mitchell put on a bulletproof vest in his friend Mark Ramiro’s basement and told Ramiro to shoot him in the chest in what the Sun described as a “Jackass-style stunt.”

But Ramiro aimed the .22-caliber gun too high and fatally struck Mitchell in the chest. Ramiro pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year and a judge gave him a full sentence of nine years in prison, but with five of those years suspended, the newspaper reported.

Ramiro had been free since he was released last year to participate in counseling programs, according to the report.

  1. Thinning the herd. One gone for good, one gone for 4 years. Win-win.

  2. A “Jackass-style stunt.”

Yep, that about sums it up.

  3. This is like “Honey, does this milk smell off?”, except with bullets.

  4. How is that “second degree murder”? It seems more like a manslaughter sort of thing.

  5. “fatally struck Mitchell in the chest”

What was he wearing, a bullet-proof cummerbund?
