Attendees at a Republican fundraiser in Colorado Wednesday say that House Speaker John Boehner called Sen. Ted Cruz a “jackass,” the Daily Caller reported

Two of the attendees — one going on record with his name — told the Daily Caller that Boehner referred to the Texas Republican as a jackass during his remarks. In their accounts, Boehner said that the 2016 presidential race kept “that jackass” away from Washington.

The event was a fundraiser for Rep. Scott Tipton (R-CO) in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Cruz has long had a reputation for being a thorn in Boehner’s side, having led a government shutdown over Obamacare for 2013 and publicly causing leadership headaches on various occasions.

The Daily Caller said it reached out to to Boehner, Cruz, and Tipton’s press offices for comment.

TPM sent a follow-up request for comment to Boehner’s office, which has not been returned.

Boner knows that his legacy is based on getting some stuff done but TP fools like Cruz don’t believe in government, so they work against getting anything done. I’m just surprised it has taken this long for Boner to be public about dissing Rafael.

  2. Finally, something we all can agree with Boehner on.

  3. How is this a story?

  4. I am not sure what is happening to John Boehner. He has appeared temperamentally unhinged lately. He was crying uncontrollably in a Golf Channel interview. Many in Congress have reported on his uncontrolled temper tantrums and outbursts. He has not been able to do his job properly and has failed at even the simplest tasks and responsibilities his office requires. Now he resorts to unprofessional name calling of an influential Senator. He is demeaning the high office of Speaker with his behaviors.

I am wondering whether this is a symptom of an underlying substance abuse/addiction problem. This may be a cry for help unfolding in public view.

  5. John Boehner should know Cruz doesn’t like to hear people spouting mainstream media opinions.
