Ivanka Trump is planning to start working out of an office in the West Wing, though she will not get a salary or receive an official role in her father’s administration.

Ivanka Trump will not have an official title but will be President Donald Trump’s “eyes and ears” and offer advice, her lawyer, Jamie Gorelick, told Politico.

The President will ask for a security clearance and government-owned devices for Ivanka Trump’s used, a White House official told CNN.

Without an official role, Ivanka Trump will not be bound by ethics rules, but she will voluntarily comply with them.

“I will continue to offer my father my candid advice and counsel, as I have for my entire life,” Ivanka Trump said in a statement to Politico. “While there is no modern precedent for an adult child of the president, I will voluntarily follow all of the ethics rules placed on government employees.”

She has stepped down from her leadership roles in the Trump Organization and her own brand and divested from other investments. She has also put her interests in her brand in a trust, according to Gorelick. However, Gorelick told Politico that Ivanka Trump has not completely eliminated her conflicts of interest.

“The one thing I would like to be clear on: we don’t believe it eliminates conflicts in every way,” Gorelick said. “She has the conflicts that derive from the ownership of this brand. We’re trying to minimize those to the extent possible.”
