Florida Student: Obama And Biden ‘Help Us Achieve’ Success

September 6, 2012 5:12 p.m.

Angie Flores, a student at Miami Dade College in Florida, introduced Jill Biden by praising the current administration’s dedication to education in Charlotte Thursday. And she praised Biden, a full-time teacher, for being the kind of educator who helps students like her succeed.

“When you grow up in a family where getting by is a struggle, college can seem like a dream for someone else; even if, like me, you love learning,” Flores said. “The statistics say that I shouldn’t be here, that the most someone like me should hope for is to get by, not get ahead. But I’m not a statistic. I’m a young woman with a bright future.”

Flores also rebutted the Republican refrain about celebrating success: “We all celebrate success. President Obama and Vice President Biden help us achieve it!”
