Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took credit Sunday for ABC News’ decision to cut ties with the New Hampshire Union Leader, which had planned to co-host a Republican debate with the network.

The network confirmed to Politico Sunday that it was cutting ties with the newspaper for its debate scheduled for Feb. 6, but did not offer a exact reason why. The report quoted an anonymous source who said the relationship between the two parties had been tense after the newspaper participated in the Democratic debate.

The newspaper has also railed against Trump in front page editorials. Trump had criticized the newspaper’s coverage of his campaign and he went on a Twitter rant Sunday in response to the network’s decision.

    I can’t speak for ABC, but I would think it’s because the newspaper has already made an endorsement. As such, they can’t be expected to be fair and balanced.
