A deputy Cook County sheriff was hospitalized on Thursday after accidentally shooting himself in the foot.
DNA Info Chicago reported that around 3 p.m., there was an accidental discharge of the deputy’s firearm, Cook County Sheriff Department spokesman Ben Breit said.
The deputy suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the deputy sheriff was taken to Mount Sinai hospital.
