Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday that the U.S. and its allies cannot allow northern Mali to become a terrorist safe haven. “We are in for a struggle,” she said of the efforts to combat Islamist militants in northern Mali. But it is a “necessary struggle. We cannot allow northern Mali to become a safe haven,” Clinton said.
