Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Monday released two ads summing up her qualifications to be President and urging Democrats in early voting states to “stop the Republicans from ripping all our progress away.”
The similar 60-second ads, set to air in Iowa and New Hampshire, give a short version of Clinton’s biography. The ads highlight her role in the State Children’s Health Insurance Program as first lady and show her standing near Ground Zero as a senator from New York and sitting opposite Russian President Vladimir Putin as secretary of state.
The ads close with a summary of Clinton’s biggest campaign promises, including taking on the gun lobby and keeping Planned Parenthood open. The ads also show images of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Donald Trump while urging Democrats to “stop the Republicans from ripping all our progress away.”
The ads will air in their respective states with a call to action to caucus on Feb. 1 or vote in a primary on Feb. 9. The size and length of the ad buy were unclear.
Here’s the Iowa version of the ad:
And the New Hampshire ad:
Love it! She needs to run more ads like this. Keeping what we have, as the Republicans work so hard to destroy all, is an important part of this election. That’s why I don’t get those who at all costs will not vote for Hillary. As if staying home in a blue funk or worse, voting for a republican is going to make things better for the average American?
I think not. Staying home if Bernie doesn’t win IS a vote for a Republican!
She could also remind voters that this is not a new battle, keeping what we have fought for. Anyone remember the Clinton years’ budget surplus? Halliburton does.
Good ad, solid on facts. More of this, please. Most definitely, remind voters–especially those soft voters–what is at stake: economic policies, fair and progressive taxation, foreign relations, healthcare, environmental issues both domestic and global. Also make clear to voters how much of a role SCOTUS can play in our lives. We need less Scalias. Robertses, Thomases and Alitos. We need more RBGs, Sotomayors, Kagans, etc., folks who understand and appreciate the Constitution is a living, breathing document. Thank you.
These are primary ads. The ads ail get much better and more in-depth later
Pretty straight ahead stuff, but the choice of picturing Cruz shooting a semi-automatic (or whatever it was) is pretty cool. Kind of underlines the difference between the Cruz and Joni gunslinger appeal and actual governing. Use that shit they think is so hot against them.
This ad works in contrast both Bernie, who has spent decades ranting and raving (not that there is anything wrong with that) while Hillary has been accomplishing stuff and getting national and international experience, and also in contrast to Trump and Cruz who both spend all their time grandstanding for the cameras.
