Florida’s ex-Gov. Charlie Crist, a former Republican who became an independent during his 2010 run for U.S. Senate, is now supporting Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson for re-election.

Nelson is in a heated race for re-election in this perennial swing state, against Republican Rep. Connie Mack IV. The PollTracker Average currently shows Nelson with 44.5 percent, compared to Mack at 43.9 percent.
