The former top aide to Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) who was arrested Wednesday on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography faces decades in prison if convicted.
Ryan Loskarn, who until Wednesday served as Alexander’s chief of staff, made an initial court appearance on Thursday in federal court in Washington, D.C. The court scheduled a preliminary and detention hearing for Monday.
Loskarn, who court documents say had hundreds of videos depicting child pornography on a hard drive in his Washington, D.C. home, faces up to 10 years in prison for the charge of possessing child pornography charge, and up to 20 years in prison for the charge of attempting to distribute child pornography.
According to court documents, Loskarn had videos depicting child pornography available for download on the Gnutella peer-to-peer network.
