Does all the talk of News Corp’s alleged hacking have you feeling a bit paranoid? Well, there’s an app for that.

Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers last week received add-ons that allow users to block News Corp-owned and operated websites. Both add-ons were developed by users, not Google or Mozilla.

Chrome’s add-on, “Murdoch Block” — which boasts almost 5,000 users — entices users to “Install this app to if you want to estimate News Corp’s influence on your internet life, install it to make a statement to the Murdoch empire or install it because you’ve just had enough lies.”

Firefox’s “Murdoch Alert” add-on has been downloaded 5,783 times. From the Murdoch Alert description:

MurdochAlert warns you whenever you visit one of the 100+ Murdoch Family-controlled websites. If you’re not ready to block them all, MurdochAlert can warn you instead. Also it’s handy for identifying news sources controlled by the Murdoch Family.

Both add-ons allow users the option to go on and view a News Corp website.
