Newt Gingrich hasn’t won any Republican primaries yet — they haven’t even been held, of course — but Massachusetts Democrats are already working to mobilize their own supporters by tying him around the neck of a down-ticket GOP politician: Namely Sen. Scott Brown, in a new fundraising e-mail sent out to the state party’s support list.
The e-mail capitalizes on comments Gingrich made on Monday, during a campaign swing through neighboring New Hampshire, when he said: “Reelecting Senator Brown is a key step toward being able to repeal Obamacare.”
“Reelecting Scott Brown is part of the Republican Party’s plan to enact its extreme agenda and roll back the progress we’ve made in the last few years, the fundraising letter from state Dem chair John Walsh declares. “You don’t have to take our word for it. Just ask Newt Gingrich.”

A couple of days ago, the Republican presidential frontrunner endorsed Brown and said giving him a full six-year term is a “big deal” to anyone who wants to put Tea Party Republicans in charge.
Karl Rove is already bombarding our airwaves and the national Republican Party is preparing to pull out all the stops to help Scott Brown. That’s why we need to build a strong grassroots campaign to counter their lies.

Newt and Scott Brown are birds of a feather when it comes to the radical Republican agenda of slashing Social Security, protecting millionaires and billionaires at the expense of the middle class and bowing to Republican activist Grover Norquist.
I’ll give this to Newt, though. He is right that the race here in Massachusetts could determine who controls the U.S. Senate next year.
