Jon Stewart Mocks The Media’s Fleeting Campaign Coverage

So, Newt Gingrich is the latest Republican presidential front-runner. Imagine Jon Stewart’s delight. But, as he reminded viewers Thursday, we’ve been here before.

It started with Michele Bachmann. She performed well in polls over the summer and won the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa. But, what goes up, must come down. It wasn’t long before her campaign was declared “dead.”

Then came Perry, and finally Cain. And what about Ron Paul? He never stood a chance, the media declared. But surely the media’s attention — or lack thereof — influences the rise and fall of these campaigns.

“It’s amazing what paying attention to a candidate can do to their candidacy,” Stewart said. And now that Gingrich is the new front-runner, it’s time to find new reasons why he sucks. Have at it!
