Cain Asks Iowans To “Make Me America’s CEO”

Herman Cain

On Friday, Herman Cain releases his second ad in Iowa, a 51-second spot heavy with business jargon as Cain talks up his experience in the private sector.

Much like Mitt Romney’s campaign, Herman Cain is trying to convince voters that what America needs is someone with business experience and that, most importantly, as the former CEO of the National Restaurant Association, he has what it takes to fix America’s shaky economy. Set in an empty factory where work has ground to a halt, Cain explains where all the jobs have gone: “Our $15 trillion national debt is killing our children’s future,” he says, “and it’s not going to get any better until we put an executive into the executive office.” From here, Cain touts his “lifetime creating jobs” to demonstrate why he should be “America’s CEO.”

Cain’s ad will join a rash of new ads flooding the Iowa airwaves less than five weeks before the January 3 Iowa caucuses. But whereas Cain used to be leading the pack, the latest poll out of Iowa Monday had him in 5th place with 9.8% of the vote. And while his new ad goes up tomorrow, Cain has signaled that Friday is the day he will sit down with his wife to “reassess” whether to continue with his campaign.
