As Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) faced backlash over her recent comments about “public hanging” and voter suppression on Tuesday, a 2014 Facebook photo of her wearing a Confederate hat was surfaced by Politico.
The photo was taken during a trip to the Jefferson Davis House in Biloxi, Mississippi. In a Facebook post about the trip, Hyde-Smith wrote that the museum is “Mississippi history at its best.”
Hyde-Smith was already in hot water for videos joking that she would attend a “public hanging” if a supporter invited her and that joking about suppressing Democratic votes. The comment about hanging prompted Walmart to pull a campaign donation it made to Hyde-Smith’s Senate campaign.
Republicans in the state are now worried she may not survive the runoff election for her Senate seat next week in a state that should be easy for Republicans to win.
Also - DO NOT FORGET -
During her first term in the Mississippi Senate, she offered an unsuccessful bid to rename a state highway in honor of Confederate President Jefferson Davis.
Walkin’ th’ Green Mile. She’s walkin’ th’ Green Mile.
SO Much (not) Winning…
This southern belle is gonna get rung in the runoff…
So, basically all Republicans are cheery traitors to the United States, right?
Awww, ain’t she cute!
