Ted Nugent’s brother, Jeff Nugent, said he was offended when his brother called President Obama a “sub-human mongrel.”
“I still love him, but this time he’s clearly crossed a line,” Jeff Nugent told the Washington Post in an interview published Tuesday. “Being Ted’s older brother, I have known him from birth and he hasn’t changed much. He has always been provocative. This time, I am offended.”
Jeff Nugent, the former CEO of Revlon and Neutrogena, said he is close with his brother. But he sometimes disagrees with Ted Nugent on certain issues, like gun control. Jeff Nugent supports background checks.
He told the Washington Post that he would help his brother avoid name-calling in the future.
“Ted has just apologized for that remark and I personally accept that and his promise to not call people names in the future,” Jeff Nugent said. “That will be hard for him but I’ll continue to offer advice and a cattle prod to help him keep that promise.”
While he respects Obama and Congress, Jeff Nugent said he is also unhappy with the way they are running the country.
“I’m offended by the way they have conducted themselves and the direction they have given our country. I’m offended by the collective leadership we have in Washington,” he said. “Frankly, their actions speak louder than my brother’s choice of vocabulary.”
When asked to respond to his brother’s comments to the Washington Post, Ted Nugent said in an email, “No response. His words stand & I stand with him.”
