New Jersey Gov. and Bruce Springsteen super-fan Chris Christie (R) won’t destroy his collection of “Boss” CDs, despite a warning from a supporter on Thursday.
“He’s not a friend of yours, governor,” a man told Christie at the first town hall of his second term.
Christie politely rebuffed the man, explaining that being perhaps the biggest Bruce fan in the country was his favorite hobby.
“I have it all on my iPhone now,” he responded. “I don’t think I’ve ever been under the delusion that as a Bruce fan of his music that that meant that he and I were necessarily simpatico on other issues.”
“What I can tell you is, despite the fact that you might be right, I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink. This is it for me, OK?” he responded. “I still hope as he gets older and older, he’ll say, ‘He’s a good guy, we could be friends.'”
“He actually told me we were friends,” he added. “Hard to let that go.”
Springsteen teamed up with comedian Jimmy Fallon last month to parody the scandal surrounding lane closures on the George Washington Bridge with a tune set to “Born To Run” called “Gov. Christie Traffic Jam.”
