Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) called senior Republican Rep. Tom Cole (OK) on Thursday to thank him for helping pass the Violence Against Women Act through the House, an aide said.
Cole, a Native American, in turn thanked her for championing a provision in the law aimed at protecting women who are abused on tribal lands.
