Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) hailed House Republicans’ upcoming vote on postpone the debt limit a victory for Democrats and President Obama, at a press conference Wednesday.
The vote shows that Republicans are in “full retreat” on fiscal policy issues, Schumer said.
Schumer joked that the House GOP retreat last week had had a calming effect on Republicans. “Maybe there were deep breathing exercises,” Schumer said, or “soft jazz muzak.”
