A new survey of the Montana Senate race from Public Policy Polling Tuesday shows Sen. Jon Tester ahead of his opponent, Rep. Denny Rehberg, 48 percent to 43 percent. Earlier PPP polls in Montana showed Rehberg with a small 2-point lead, but Tuesday’s poll shows Tester has consolidated his base and has a 10-point edge among women. Tester is also benefitting from a “generational gap.” Rehberg leads among seniors but Tester has the all the other age groups in his column. “It’s hard to imagine this race ever straying too far from toss up status,” PPP Director Tom Jensen wrote Tuesday, “but the trendline is encouraging for Tester given what our other polls had found.”
