The Des Moines Register has canceled a Republican presidential debate that was scheduled for December 19, instead partnering with ABC News for a December 10 debate that had already been announced by that network:
The announcement streamlines what had become a crowded debate calendar in Iowa. In addition to the Dec. 10 ABC debate at Drake University in Des Moines, Fox News and the Republican Party of Iowa are hosting a debate Dec. 15 in Sioux City.
Laura Hollingsworth, president and publisher of the Register, said the decision was made with the best interests of Iowans in mind.
