Rep. Vance McAllister (R-LA), who was caught kissing his staffer, will be back to work in Washington, D.C. on Monday after Easter recess ends.
“The Congressman was elected to do a job, and he looks forward to returning to DC following the end of recess,” McAllister spokesperson Jennifer Dunagin told the Times-Picayune on Wednesday.
Last week, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and state GOP chair Roger Villere both called on McAllister to resign, but the congressman has refused to step down.
After the video showing him kissing his staffer was published, McAllister issued an apology for his actions, but he has not made a public statement since then.
“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness,” he said in an April 7 statement. “I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve.”
