Jon Stewart was certain Thursday that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) had a reasonable explanation for the plagiarism charges that have dogged him for the last several days.
Sure enough, Paul said in an interview that it’s “a little hard to foonote things accurately” given that 98 percent of his speeches are extemporaneous.
“Ninety-eight percent of his speeches are extemporaneous meaning only two percent of his speeches are plagiarized and the truth is most of those are just Taylor Swift lyrics,” Stewart said.
Unfortunately for Paul, the plagiarism wasn’t limited to speeches. With the senator also accused of using copied material in his book and op-ed pieces, Stewart said it’s become “increasingly clear that Mr. Paul has stolen his haircut from ’80s icon Patrick Duffy.”
