Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton,” freestyle rapped in the Rose Garden with a little help from President Barack Obama in a video posted by the White House on Monday.
Miranda, along with the Hamilton cast, went to the White House to perform for the Obamas and local students in a day devoted to the arts.
Obama told Miranda his freestyle was “serious business” and joked that he hoped he didn’t “drop these cards.”
“Drop the beat,” Obama told the drummer in the background before Miranda did his thing.
Obama wondered at the end, “Do you think that’s going viral? That’s going viral!”

Lin-Manual Miranda is a bad, bad man. That is a very nice freestyle.
Stuff like this makes me grateful I was around to see him be President. This guy is a truly exceptional American, and cooler then the underside of the pillow. Awesome.
My first thought was damn this is going to make Trump supporters mad…now I can’t stop smiling!
My daughter introduced me to the Hamilton soundtrack, and I can hardly hear enough of it. Genius.
Wonderful. Gonna miss the free-thinkin’, free-stylin’, fun-filled celebrations on all of American culture and life coming from the White House when this POTUS is gone. Not only my generation, but the younger generation has been given a real treat these last several years in that regard. None of this Pat Boone shit or the banal repetition of the perfunctory Country Music stars that GWB would constantly gravitate to when he was in office, primarily to amuse himself, if nobody else.
Btw, love the soundtrack to “Hamilton”. Truly exceptional. I’ll never have the money to see it on Broadway, but at least I got the music to twirl around to…and at my age, that still counts for something.
