Two young girls, ages 8 and 11, were among those treated after being pepper sprayed Tuesday when a clash between Donald Trump supporters and protesters turned violent in front of city hall in Anaheim, California.
The confrontation happened before the city council was slated to take up a resolution to formally denounce the Republican frontrunnner’s rhetoric.
Five people were hit after an anti-Trump protester deployed pepper spray on Trump supporters, according to the Associated Press. Police are looking for the suspect but said no arrests were made at the protest.
Linda Reedy, a local resident and member of pro-Trump group We the People Rising, said her friends were “goaded” into run-ins with anti-Trump protesters.
“I just think they’re so out of control,” Reedy, who was among those hit by pepper spray, told the Los Angeles Times. “I’m so sick of the anger in this country.”
After a heated four-hour-long debate, the Anaheim city council eventually voted to take no action on the resolution, the paper reported.
Not to go all tin foil on you, but was the sprayer also a Trump supporter?
“I’m so sick of the anger in this country.”
A Trump supporter said this?
Huh.
Seriously? Lady, the cognitive dissonance you display is blinding. That said, I can’t imagine many instances when it might ever be okay to pepper spray little kids. I hope they find the guy who did it and proceed accordingly.
The sprayer appears to be Hispanic. I have hopes for down ballot Dem candidates here in Texas in November.
There was a Trump rally in my hometown and I was glad to see the cops keep the protesters (numerous, yay hometown) and supporters widely separated. Any little scuffle in a crowd like that can escalate very quickly, even when the firearms don’t come out. It’s a shame young children had to be involved in a situation like that, certainly. I’d have removed them from the area, but maybe Trump supporters see the whole thing differently.
