Two-thirds of Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump’s supporters nationwide said they believe that President Barack Obama is a Muslim, according to a poll released Tuesday.

The poll from Public Policy Polling, a Democratic-leaning firm, found that 66 percent of Trump supporters said they believed that Obama is a Muslim while just 12 percent of those who favor the real estate mogul believe Obama is a Christian.

Supporters of just three establishment GOP candidates — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) — were more inclined to believe Obama was a Christian than a Muslim, according to the poll.

PPP’s survey also found that 61 percent of Trump supporters said they did not believe Obama was born in the United States. That finding expands on a data point included in a Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register poll also released Tuesday: nearly half of Iowa caucusgoers supporting Trump believed Obama was foreign born, according to that survey.

The poll surveyed 572 Republican primary voters by phone and online from Aug. 28-30. It had a margin of error of 4.1 percentage points.
