Hillary Clinton’s lead fell to one point, down from her seven-point lead last week, in the latest update of the Ipsos/Reuters tracking poll.
Clinton still leads Donald Trump, 40-39, among likely voters nationally.
However, the poll Ipsos/Reuters poll released last Wednesday showed Clinton ahead by seven points, 42-35, among likely voters surveyed online.
When third party candidates are introduced, Clinton leads 40-38, with Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson at 6 percent and Green Party’s Jill Stein at 2 percent.
The Ipsos/Reuters tracking poll is conducted online, surveying 1,404 likely general election voters nationally, and has a credibility interval of plus or minus 3 percent.
TPM’s PollTracker Average shows Clinton leading Trump, 45 to 41.9.
Well the celebration started too soon? In the bag? Trump keeps his mouth shut and he wins.
We’re in a period of political doldrums right now in which most people really aren’t paying attention to either of the candidates. At such times most people will automatically either support their party’s candidate or say they don’t know. That’s why polls coming out now reflect only political indifference and aren’t very predictive.
