Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by two points in a new Monmouth University poll of Ohio’s likely voters, against a recent trend of Trump-favoring polls in the swing state.
This latest poll pushed Ohio in Clinton’s favor by a slight margin on TPM’s Electoral Scoreboard.
Clinton leads the new poll, 44-42, with Libertarian Gary Johnson following at 5 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein polling at 1 percent.
When Monmouth last polled the Buckeye State in August, Clinton led the polls by four points, 43-39, with Johnson at 10 percent and Stein polling below 1 percent.
But between August and the present, several major pollsters, including Fox News, CNN/ORC and Bloomberg Politics/Selzer & Company have put Trump ahead in Ohio by margins ranging from one to five points.
The Monmouth University poll was conducted via live telephone interviews Oct. 1-4 among 405 likely Ohio voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.
TPM’s PollTracker Average for the presidential election in Ohio shows a tossup, with Clinton leading Trump, 44.2 to 43.8.
Very cool
I’m thinking that a big factor here is formerly Johnson-leaning “protest” voters realizing the magnitude of the disaster they’d be enabling with their votes.
Hopefully, though I wouldn’t bet on any self awareness at this point in Johnson voters.
Just noting that Johnson’s support went from 10 to 6 points, while Clinton’s went up. It’s all stuff around the margins at this point, but that’s what it takes.
Breaking away and leaving the orange one as dust in the cheeto bag!
Well done Madam President!
