Hillary Clinton comes out nine points ahead of Donald Trump, 47-38, among likely New Hampshire voters after the first presidential debate, according to a new WBUR/MassINC poll.
With third party candidates included, Clinton leads by seven points, 42-35, with Libertarian Gary Johnson following at 13 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 4 percent.
The poll shows a decrease in Clinton’s New Hampshire lead since WBUR/MassINC last polled the state in early August, when Clinton led by 17 points, 51-34, in a head-to-head matchup.
Another poll of likely New Hampshire voters conducted six days before the debate, by Monmouth University, showed Clinton with a nine-point lead, 47-38, with Johnson at 10 percent and Stein at 1 percent.
The WBUR poll was conducted by MassINC via live telephone interview from Sept. 27-29 among 502 likely New Hampshire voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
TPM’s PollTracker Average for New Hampshire shows Clinton leading Trump, 46.9 to 39.2.
Trump is a caricature of an arrogant entitled New Yorker, which is, incidentally, the exact kind of person New Hampshire residents most love to mock.
So… what was Trump doing in NH? Next stop California?
Maybe it’s because NH is just a short hop on the aeroplane back to NY where all his greatness truly resides. But I thought I should inject something about our candidate since it appears TPM’s on track to give us all donald, all day.
I’m still sticking with my 12 point final result ! —
