WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Paul Ryan is telling GOP lawmakers that it’s time to “join forces with the new Trump administration.”

In a letter to colleagues Ryan adds: “We need to seize this moment, and come together like never before.”

The Wisconsin Republicans tells House Republicans he is seeking their support in his re-election for speaker.

He circulated the letter on Monday as Congress reconvened for a lame-duck session following Donald Trump’s election as president.

House Republicans will hold closed-door leadership elections on Tuesday and Ryan is expected to be re-elected as speaker — despite mumblings of discontent from a few conservative lawmakers. He has served in the job for a year.

  1. Dear #NeverTrumpers – There’s another party you can join. Think about it.

  2. And meanwhile Trump, Bannon, and Giuliani are showing Steve King around the Speaker’s office while Gingrich advises him on where to hire top quality “staffers”. Watching Paul Ryan have his life’s cruel dreams crushed in Trump’s tiny hands is one tiny bright spot in this endless sea of shit.

  3. lyin’ ryan proves once again, he has no principles.

  5. Republican Senators Ben Sasse (NE), Jeff Flake (AZ), Susan Collins (ME), Lyndsey Graham (SC), Lisa Murkowski (AK) and Dan Sullivan (AK) all stated publicly and persuasively that they felt Trump was a threat to the United States and should not be President.

Maybe even if they don’t join the Democrats, perhaps they could organize with them to put Schumer in as Majority leader? Sasse, Flake and Graham might be persuaded.
