NEW YORK (AP) — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the league will appeal a federal judge’s ruling striking down Tom Brady’s four-game suspension in “Deflategate.”
Goodell said in a statement Thursday that it’s paramount to protect the integrity of the game and his office’s responsibilities under the collective bargaining agreement with players.
NFL commissioner says “NFL will continue to try to drive up ratings for Patriots season opener” is more like it.
I also think they have hired Donald Trump to do the half-time show…
Another “be careful what you wish for” decision. The worst part of the judge’s decision was criticism of Goodell’s fairness and prejudice in the arbitration, especially not allowing Brady to see the notes of the lawyer who was both the NFL’s attorney, and also the hidden power behind the Wells’ report.
If Goodell really wants to protect the integrity of the game, he should resign for having flubbed deflate gate. What a joke!
Yes but…those balls WERE under inflated and Brady is no rookie. The balls were under inflated. No one refutes that. And a world class Quarterback could not tell that when those balls were in his hands?
Not so. The judge included in his incidental remarks that there was in fact NO definitive finding of deliberate deflation, AND pointed to the passages in the Wells Report that recognized just that. The SURMISE in the Wells Report - or the Wells Report as “amended” by NFL in house legal counsel under Goodell’s own control - was that the deflation “was” deliberate, based on the dubious notion that one scientific theory - the only one considered, indeed the only ALTERNATIVE considered, which says more than enough about the Wells Report to damn it - rendered that particular process statistically improbable (against a standard that couldn’t be established in the first place!).
