WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton says she won’t run for president in 2020, but vows she’s “not going anywhere.”
The former secretary of state, senator and first lady ruled out another campaign during an interview posted Monday by New York TV station News12 .
Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump, says, “I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe.”
She says, “What’s at stake in our country, the kind of things that are happening right now are deeply troubling to me.”
She says she has spoken with several of the candidates seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, and has told them, “Don’t take anything for granted, even though we have a long list of real problems and broken promises” from the Trump administration.
Good for you, girl. I’m tired of the balls out sexism of telling her to go away. She has just as much a right to be part of the conversation as any of these men do.
Not taking anything for granted is probably the most important thing that all the democratic candidates must remember, especially after one of them is the eventual nominee.
I certainly feel grateful for the surge of new young leaders we’ve got. But that said, and emphasized, I’d love to see (God let it be Thy will) a new Democratic President nominate her for Secretary of State to rebuild, to the extent possible, the State Department and our sadly dilapidated alliance network. Offhand can’t think of a stronger way to say we’re back and were never really gone; the past four years were an aberration, we realize now we have a problem, and we’ll deal with it. Honestly is there anyone better with the policy chops, personal history, and sheer grit to get that done? And send a big FU to Putin?
Like she did.
Nobody but ChumCons thought she was running.
