After Fox News host Tucker Carlson accused Purple Heart recipient Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) of hating America, the senator reminded him on Monday night that between the two of them, only one lost both legs while serving in the U.S. military.

“Does @TuckerCarlson want to walk a mile in my legs and then tell me whether or not I love America?” Duckworth tweeted.

During his program earlier in the evening, Carlson had attacked Duckworth, who is reportedly a top candidate to be Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s running mate, calling the senator a “deeply silly and unimpressive person” after she asserted on Sunday that there ought to be a “national dialogue” in the debate over taking down statues of George Washington.

After playing a short clip of Duckworth’s remark, Carlson declared that Democrats “actually hate America.”

“We cannot let them run this nation because they hate it,” the Fox News host said. “Imagine what they would do to it.”

Duckworth, who is the first female double amputee to be elected senator, was awarded a Purple Heart after she lost her legs in 2004 while serving in the Iraq War.
